I spent a good part of my youth hiking those trails and all over the Keweenaw Peninsula. Good black bear and coyotes area. I remember some reports of bobcats.

Lake of the Clouds is nice area

Relatives on my dads side of family lived up there. They had a fishing operation.

Thx Craig. Saw no bear but I was told they’re around. Terrain was slow going but lush and vibrant. My dad’s side also settled up here following the lumber trade a hundred years ago.

Absolutely. Mining, lumber and fishing made a lot of communities prosperous. Ontonagon, like so many UP communities, never diversified and have slipped into the distant past. Lack of leadership and vision results in lots of bars depression.
